I have been reading Nightmares & Dreamscapes by Stephen King on and off for days now, but I’ve only had time to really read it recently. Okay, so I never had the time to read it until a few days ago. And boy that book just does not disappoint.
The book is actually a collection of short stories, and even yet I have only finished reading the first story, I really want to tear into the second story when I have the time.
Spoiler alert!
As I was reading the first story “Dolan’s Cadillac”, there was a sense of something that I could not really point out yet. Until I got to the part where one of the characters said “For the love of God”, so I said a-ha! I could only infer, Stephen King is a fan of Edgar Allan Poe. Or he could be Edgar Allan Poe’s reincarnation. “For the love of God, Montresor!” that line in Edgar Allan Poe’s story on “The Cask of Amontillado” was so scarily beautiful.
I must say, “Dolan’s Cadillac” is more intricate and equally albeit more detailed with “The Cask of Amontillado”, it is more frightening, and dangerous. The story is so complex that it even dives into the labyrinth of bureaucracy. Below is link to the synopsis
