Home quarantine has encouraged many of us to go back to the basics and engaged ourselves to our old indoor hobbies. Some are into cooking, baking, planting, even online selling and the most that I am very much interested in is reading novels.
Since it’s already digital age, one can just go and download from Google Play or Apple IOS any novel reading apps. I myself have been hooked and based on my experience, I would like to enumerate my top 5 novel reading apps and the reason why I considered them as my top 5.

1. WATTPAD (www.wattpad.com)
Wattpad is an entirely free website where people can write and read. It has a wide genre from romance, horror, mythical, fiction and more. Currently it has about 1.2 stories as it accepts novice writers. The platform claims to have an audience of more than 80 million users, who can directly interact with the writers and share their opinions with fellow readers. There are a lot of interesting stories but there are many that do not have updated chapters. The reading app has already gone with the trend where it now uses virtual coins to purchase paid stories.
Some of the popular and interesting romantic novels I’ve read so far are:
- The Billionaire’s Wedding Planner by CollateralSunshine (completed story)
- The Fake Marriage by ShaanaG (completed story)
- It’s an Accident by Chocolatyangels (completed story)
- Am I Married? by Ficrom (completed story)
2. DREAME (dreame.com)
True to their tagline “Reading Completes Me”. Similar to Wattpad platform, Dreame is a place for book-lovers to read different genres from romance to fiction and it’s a community that helps writers to publish their works. It has a lot of interesting stories and is the same with other reading apps. One needs to complete tasks to earn coins and be able to use the coin to open the next chapter. The app is also downloadable on Google Play.
Some of the popular and interesting romantic novels I’ve read so far are:
- Bride of Convenience
- The Billionaire’s Temporary Wife
- The Best Friend’s Contract
- Once Upon a One-night-stand

3. MoboReader (www.moboreader.net)
Downloadable in both Google Play and Apple IOS, this app provides both paid and free ebooks including romance, sci-fi, mystery, comedy, action, adventure, fantasy, young adult fiction, fanfiction, LGBT, classic and many more genres. It has a lot of enticing novels and stories and those that I have read so far are very well translated in English. It still requires coins to purchase the next chapter but if you are an addict novel reader, the app offers a monthly subscription and you can open all chapters with no worries.
Some of the popular and interesting romantic novels I’ve read so far are:
- Take My Breath Away
- The Substitute Bride
- Mending the Shadow
- Mr. Untouchable (Billionaire #1 series)
- Mr. Beautiful (Billionaire #2 series)
4. Bravonovel (www.bravonovel.com)
Downloadable on Google Play and Apple IOS, Bravonovel is a reading platform where readers can immerse themselves into the latest fascinating stories anywhere, anytime. The app has a lot of interesting stories and the English translation is quite good. This app still uses a virtual commodity either diamond or pearl for you to purchase the next chapter. It does not have any task to complete compared to MoboReader and Dreame, but the trick for you to earn free diamond or pearl is to rate the translation every end of the chapter. The stories are quite lengthy and it can be addictive. What frustrates me is once I am so engrossed with the story and then I run out of either diamond or pearl. Though you can buy the diamond or pearl, I find it impractical and expensive but I still included this app as one of my top 5.
Some of the popular and interesting romantic novels I’ve read so far are:
- My Sassy President
- The Poorest Rich Man
- The Hidden Billionaire
- Irresistible Romance
5. GALATEA (www.getgalatea.com)
Developed by Inkitt, Galatea is a free ebook platform downloadable for both Google Play and Apple IOS. Galatea provides you with a new reading experience that is more immersive, interactive, and engaging than a traditional book. What I like about this app is that it has a wide range of genres with impressive special effects that really draws you. The downside of this app is that it has very short free chapters and longer waiting time for the next chapter to unlock.
Some of the popular and interesting romantic novels I’ve read so far are:
- Devil’s Angel by S.S. Sahoo
- Beautiful Mistake by Mel Ryle
- The Replacement by Rebecca Robertson
There are still many reading apps to explore and I know you have your favorites. On my succeeding post, I will give my reviews on the different novels I have read so far from these different apps. I do encourage you to download WATTPAD, DREAME, MOBOREADER, BRAVONOVEL, and GALATEA for your reading enjoyment.
